Bake the cake mix according to the package instructions. Remove cake from the oven, remove from the baking pan after
about 10 or so minutes and cool completely.
When the cake completely cools, is time to start decorating the cake. Make the homemade Buttercream Icing. The recipe for the
Buttercream Icing is on one of my blog pages here at Blogger. Place aluminum foil over the cardboard. Place the cake on the cardboard.
Frost the top and the sides of the cake smooth with Buttercream Icing tinted desired shade of red. Place in the refrigerator.
Tint another batch of Buttercream Icing with black and save just a small amount of white icing for the spider's eyes.
Fit a decorating bag with cake decorating tip #3, tinted with Black Buttercream Icing. Pipe on the design that should look like a spider web on the top of the cake. With another decorating bag fitting with decorating tip #16, pipe a scallop design on the outside of the cake. Both on the top of the cake and at the bottom of it. Fit a decorating bag with decorating tip #12, tinted with Black Buttercream Icing. Pipe the spiders body. Fit a decorating bag with tip # 2, and pipe on the spider's eyes, using White Buttercream Icing. Use decorating bag with tip #3 to pipe the spider's legs. .
Add any other touches to the spider cake that you would like, Write Happy Birthday on the front side of the cake. Place other plastic Creepie Crawlies or Candy to the cake. Enjoy!
