How to make a Witch Cake

Halloween is soon approaching again. What a good time to throw a Halloween Party, make a decorated Halloween Witch Cake to be the centerpiece at the table, surrounded by other treats that you might want to serve.

The utensils that you will need to prepare the Halloween Witch Cake are as follows:

One Star shaped Baking Pan

Ten Plastic Decorating Bags

Cake Decorating Tips: #(2) 3, #(2) 4, #47, 127D, 124, (2) 16, and #21

Cardboard big enough to fit cake on

Aluminum Foil

Electric Mixer

Large Mixing Bowls

Spoons

Assorted Bowls for Icing Colors

Small Wood Stick for Broom Stick

One Cooling Tray

One Sharp Knife or Kitchen Scissors

Icing Spatula

The ingredients that you will need to go shopping for preparing the Halloween Witch Cake are as follows:

One Cake Mix, your favorite flavor

Eggs

Vegetable Oil

Powdered Sugar

Crisco

Butter or Margarine

One small package Large Marshmallows

One small box of Cornstarch

Food Colors, *Note: Paste food colors work better with the Icing.

Colors needed, Black, Brown, Yellow, Green, Orange, Violet, and Red *Note: It is difficult to get a true color of red when mixing the red food color with the white icing, so it does require a lot of the red food paste. When mixing the black color Icing, mix in the Brown food paste color then mix in the Black food paste color.

Bake the cake mix according to the package instructions. Remove cake from the oven, remove from the Star shaped baking pan and cool completely.

When the cake completely cools, is time to start decorating the cake. Ice the sides of the cake, and mouth area of the witch's face smooth. Outline face, hat, mouth, dress, shoes, and socks with cake decorating tip number four.

Using the points of the Stars creating your witch face design. Cover the witch cake with stars using cake decorating tip number sixteen, one filled with the green icing, and one filled with the black icing. Using cake decorating tip number three, one filled with white buttercream icing and the other one filled with black icing, pipe in the eyes and use tip sixteen, green icing to pull out the witch's nose. Use tip number one hundred twenty-four to make the brim of the witch's hat filled with the black icing. Use cake decorating tip number forty-seven to make the band for the hat, using the violet icing color. Use cake decorating tip number four to outline and decorate the hat buckle, fill one bag with yellow icing color and the other bag with black icing color. Use cake decorating tip number sixteen filled with the orange icing to pull out the witch's hair. Use cake decorating tip number one hundred twenty seven d, filled with black icing to make a double ruffle for the bottom of the witch's dress. Use cake decorating tip number sixteen filled with black icing to make the witch's star studs on her shoes, and last but not least, use cake decorating tip number twenty one to make the yellow star border for the bottom of the cake.

To attach the broom to the cake, cut the Marshmallow with scissors to make one end of the Marshmallow to look like a broom. Attach the other end of the Marshmallow to the stick and place on cake. Decorate the broom with the rest of the yellow and violet icing colors.

It does take a lot of effort in decorating a cake. You can put as many finishing touches as you want to on a cake when that you are decorating one.
