Chili Beans

In the Fall and Winter months of the year, there is nothing like fixing a big pan full of delicious homemade chili beans. Chili beans served with cornbread is a must. Jazz up the cornbread by adding whatever your favorite ingredients are like, shredded cheese, hot peppers, or even some diced veggies.

The utensils that you will need to prepare the Chili beans are:

Large pasta type cooking pan

Kitchen Strainer

Large Spoon

Can Opener

Kitchen Knife

Cutting Board

The Ingredients that will be needed are as follows:

Two to three pounds of hamburger meat or ground turkey meat

One medium size onion, diced

One green bell pepper, washed and diced

One package chili seasoning mix

Hot sauce if desired

Salt and black pepper to taste

Two garlic cloves, minced

Two cans of pinto beans, drained (or whatever kind of beans you like)

One can of diced tomatoes

One large can of tomato sauce

Fry the hamburger meat or the ground turkey meat. If using the hamburger meat, make sure to drain it when it is done. Place the drained hamburger meat, and the rest of the ingredients into the large cooking pan and boil for at least an hour and a half, cooking the chili beans on medium heat, stirring often.

Once the Chili beans have cooked and thickened up, remove from the heat. Let the Chili sit around for at least twenty minutes before serving. Serve the homemade Chili beans with delicious cornbread either made from scratch or even a box mix. Different toppings for Chili beans are also good like, shredded cheese of your choice, sour cream, diced fresh tomatoes, crushed fritos, you name it to top off your bowl of Chili beans.
