Dressing - or is it Stuffing?

First of all, let me ask you, do you call it Stuffing or Dressing? Where I come from, it has always been called dressing, and I have not tasted any other kind of dressing that I like other than my Moms version of it. She is a pro at it, she needs to sell the delicious dressing that she makes twice or three times a year. Homemade Dressing is delicious served with chicken gravy over the top of it.

Utensils:

One large Frying Pan

One Spoon

One Sharp Knife

Can Opener

One large Cooking Pot

One oval oven proof Casserole Dish (and the oval dish makes a difference) The oval casserole dishes are more deep inside of them, than a regular square casserole dish is.

Cutting board

Ingredients:

Two to Three Celery Stalks, cleaned, diced

One Granny Smith Apple, peeled, diced

One Green Bell Pepper, washed, seeds removed, diced

One Onion, peeled, diced

Butter or Margarine

Four cans of Chicken Broth

Ground Sage

Salt and Black Pepper to taste

One Egg

Two packages of Pepperidge Farm Stuffing Mix (get two different types)

Directions:

In the frying pan, add about one half stick of the butter or the margarine. Let melt. Add the celery, apple, onion, and green bell pepper and fry this mixture until it is softened, about fifteen minutes.  Cook over medium high heat. Remove from heat and set aside.

In the large cooking pot, add the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Lightly grease your oval oven proof casserole dish. Add half of the first package of the stuffing mix, and then open the other bag of the stuffing mix and add a half of a bag of it. Pour this directly into the casserole dish. Then add your celery/apple mixture to this. Stir and add the chicken broth, about half of it, stir. You want the dressing to be kinda thick, not runny. So add more of the chicken broth to the dressing to make sure that it is thick enough. When added the correct amount of the chicken broth to the dressing, stir in about one tablespoon of the ground sage. Let the dressing sit to cool for about fifteen to twenty minutes, then add the egg. Stir.

Bake the Dressing on 350 degrees for about forty five minutes to an hour.

Remove the Dressing from the oven and serve it hot with chicken gravy.
