good served with fruit, in a bowl, or on ice cream cones. It is fairly easy to make.
Utensils:
Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons
One Wire Whisk
Two or Three Large Spoons
Two Large Bowls with lids (place the bowls in the freezer while making the Orange Sherbet mixture)
One Large Mixing Bowl
Freezer Container (optional)
Ingredients:
1 Cup Sugar - (minus two tablespoons)
Dash of Salt
2 Cups Sunny D Orange Juice (or your favorite orange juice)
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 Cups Very Cold Heavy Cream
Directions:
In mixing bowl, combine sugar, salt, orange juice, lemon juice and vanilla. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Whisk in the cold heavy cream. Cover the mixing bowl and chill the orange mixture until it has reached forty degrees. This takes about an hour, hour and a half.
Once your Orange Sherbet mixture has cooled, plug in your Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. Place the freezer container (that should always be in the freezer), onto the machine, place the paddle attachment into the middle part of the freezer container, switch the machine to the on position, and pour in the Orange Sherbet mixture.
In around twenty to twenty-five minutes, you will have soft serve ice cream. When the ice cream is done, turn the machine to the off position, take out the paddle attachment. Pour the Orange Sherbet into a freezer container. Let the ice cream stay in the freezer for six to eight hours. Enjoy your ice cream in a bowl, or with ice cream cones.
